Property Taxes

Do Coloradans want to raise property taxes to meet financial needs of State? Probably not. My experience is that one of the first questions I get from out-of-state inquirers is “What is the property tax?” This apparently is an important factor in driving new buyers to our state, and in particular, our beautiful Southwest setting. Let me know what you think on this matter.

  1. It seems in this day and age there is never enough money for the states, yet everyday you read of some group receiving state funds to do a project. The questions might be should the state fund so many projects or should communities fund them.

  2. No one likes the sound of ANY tax, no matter what it necessarily supports. It definitely hurts real estate sales as it does drive up the price factor dramatically. So, of course I don’t like the sound of a property tax. I guess I would like my Realtor to explain it more and what that tax supports. As an outsider, I probably was not there for the debate about raising the tax.

  3. I say “tax the richest of the rich.” They’ve been ripping us off for so long. Look up the stats on who’s done the best in the past few years. the top 1/10 of 1 percent, that’s who.
Secondly, our country was funded by tariffs for 200 years, and we did quite well, thank you very much.
